The Canadiens Tower
Make way for tint and texture play
Elegance, durability and minimalism epitomize the Pocket Park of Tour des Canadiens 3. Color contrasting with the white granite, stainless steel and wood of the square, the Copthorne pavers laid out in a chevron pattern play off of the conserved heritage building, while at the same time reducing the scale of space. The clever composition adds an authenticity redolent of European plazas, albeit in a contemporary urban context.
The landscape architect also made adroit use of the Valois product in monochrome Opal color and Ultra-Smooth finish. The classic 600 x 600mm format confers an undeniable elegance to private terraces; the hexagonal format used here instills a modern design sensibility and an interesting play of tints and textures for public spaces. Thus, this subtle contrast of colors and formats in the choice of architectural precast concrete pavers demarcates and defines the private areas from the public areas.
This slick, clean design gives the inner courtyard of the third tower dynamism and modernity.
